Key figures showing the bigger picture…

  • 7.3 Mtoe/year: France is the leading consumer of wood fuel in Europe, mainly through domestic heating applications.

  • There are 6 million wood-fuelled heating appliances in France, representing 1 dwelling in 3.

  • Close to 500,000 appliances are sold every year in France.

  • 2020 target: 9 million appliances installed.

The current situation mean smany households are renewing their equipment

Wood-fired heating appliances in France are on average 15 years old and 27%

of self-contained units installed are low-efficiency open fireplaces.

The French state has launched incentive-based, tax-credit policies that have certainly boosted the market.

Wood pellet fuelan expanding market

Between 2006 and 2009, wood-pellet production in France rose nearly threefold, from 120, 000 tonnes to 345, 000 tonnes.

This continued growth has been the driving force behind the good sales figures

for pellet-fuelled heating appliances.

RT 2012: wood set to be a winner

Within the context of the RT 2012 energy efficiency regulations, wood benefits from

a modulation factor of 1.3. So it makes good economic sense to install a wood-fuelled heating system in any new home.

FlammeVerte, a benchmark partner

Flam’Expo is supported by the association of renewable energy companies and ADEME, the French environment and energy control agency, who are both stakeholders in the FlammeVerte label.

This confirms Flam’Expo’s position as the benchmark exhibition in France for self-contained, wood-fired heating appliances.
